Get Involved.

Volunteers are an important part of the ministries of New Life Union Mission. Volunteering at the Mission allows you to help others while fulfilling God’s plan for your life as described in Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Volunteer opportunities can be one time, weekly, monthly or periodic. We have volunteers who come the same day each week to help serve a hot lunch in our Community Café’. Some volunteer every week at our Mission Youth Center Clubs, or during the summer at New Life Youth Camp. Others volunteer at our thrift stores. Thanksgiving and Christmas are wonderful times to volunteer at the Mission as we serve a Thanksgiving Day Meal, pack fruit bags and jail packets for Christmas, and set up and operate a Christmas Toy Store for underprivileged children and their families. We also need people we can call to come in and help with special projects in the office like newsletters and other mailings. These are just a few of the ways you can work alongside Mission staff to serve our Lord and meet the needs of others. Below you will find a list of ways you can help and what to do to get involved.

Weekend Food For Kids

Weekend Food for Kids provides meals for children who otherwise will not have enough food over the weekend. The food is selected for ease of preparation and nutritional value, with the goal being to provide children with filling, easy to prepare food. A typical Weekend Food for Kids pack includes dried fruit, canned fruit, two canned entrees, two breakfast items, shelf-stable milk, 100% fruit juice, and crackers. Children are recommended by school teachers and counselors, and then parents are contacted. The program is operated very discretely and attention is not drawn to the children involved. The program currently serves children in elementary schools in Dyersburg City, Dyer County, and Halls. All money given and designated to the program is used to purchase food. It costs $4.00 per week or $120.00 for the entire thirty weeks to provide for one child. The program is coordinated by wonderful volunteers.
